let me congratulate you and the Lindsey's on a job well done. Since this was my first .....I was pretty overwhelmed at all the emotions an event like this can conjure up in a person. I did see some of my very favorite people and some that left me flat then and now ....to be expected. But I must say as a reality check and a chance to check in with those we knew it was a great experience. Thank you again and please let me know how to contact Jeff and Marty so that I can express my appreciation to them.
Gloria---Congratulations!!! You certainly do put on a fine reunion. You must have outdone yourself this time (I don't have any others to compare it to.) I got to see lots of folks I hadn't seen in a very long time. Linda Prater, Bianchi, and a few others. The only one I didn't see was Cornell Walker (we weren't real close, but I did want to say 'Hi.') And I wanted to visit w/ Tom Madsen more than just those couple of minutes in the parking lot - I never saw him after that. Attaching all the pic's - camera batteries went dead. I had extras in the car, but I didn't feel up to walking that far out and back. Again, great get-together - thanks for the invite,
Gloria, A really remarkable job to pull this all together. The Lindleys also cannot be thanked enough. MA and I really enjoyed it. How did it get in the newspaper? Gary
I've got to take my hat off and say a huge "THANK YOU" to you, Jeff and his wife, and Jackie for the fantastic job that all of you all did to put this reunion together. It was fantastic. I got to see and swap "war stories" with a whole bunch of people that I haven't seen in 42 years -- and meet a whole bunch of others who graduated both before and after '66 at the same time! The logistics of doing this were enormous, yet you managed to pull it off without a hitch. It was well worth the expense involved for me to fly home, rent a car in San Antonio, and stay in a New Braunfels motel for a night -- just to be able to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. I only wish that I could have been there Friday afternoon and stayed through Sunday morning so that I could have spent more time with you. As it was, I thoroughly enjoyed the gathering at the Lindleys' house Saturday night and sure hope that it won't be another 42 years before I get to see all of you again. If any of you are ever near Shreveport, Louisiana, please don't hesitate to give me a call. My home number is 318-687-1507 and my cell number is 318-393-9410. I would LOVE to see any of you again at any time.
My server won't allow me to send this message to all of the recipients on your e-mail list, Gloria, so -- if you wouldn't mind forwarding this reply to EVERYBODY -- I sure would appreciate it.
Hi Gloria, got back late last night. Sorry I missed you at the breakfast on Sunday morning. I wanted to tell you once more how fantastic everything was. I really enjoyed myself and you are to be congratulated for doing such a wonderful job over all these years and especially for this reunion. Take care and God bless, Art
Gloria I heard that the event was fantastic. I knew that I would be sorry that I missed it, but it couldn't be helped. Thanks for making the event so memorable for so many people...including me. I look forward to seeing the photos. Have fun on your trip! How exciting! Lynn
You really outdid yourself with this one! The reunion was wonderful – my first ever. Your organization, planning and execution were superb. Thank you does not seem adequate, truthfully, for all you did to make the event come to life.
My only regret at all regarding the weekend was that I was unable to make the rounds to talk to everyone I had hoped to visit…including you! It was a great weekend tripping down memory lane and our Randolph years. I realize now how lucky we were to have the experience we did in a small, intimate high school.
Again, many, many thanks for keeping the school spirit of the ‘60’s together all these years!
A quick thanks for the fabulous work you did. This was one of the top weekends of my life. I'll send more for the blog later....still recovering from lack of sleep. :)
Hi Gloria! What a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!!! Thank you, Danny and your boys, and your great team for making it THE BEST! Loved seeing those I had known and many who knew Forrest, and I especially had fun watching Karen meet many of her classmates who were able to stay and graduate from RHS. And I never dreamed (at this age?) that I would make new RHS friends! We have some very special stories to tell our dad!
I definitely will be back up in SA/NB/Austin this fall and will call! In the meantime, please tell son Kelly it was a pleasure to finally meet him and I will let my kids Karl and Sunny know he is well and in Texas. My very best to the rest of the RHS Hill Country gang ... and if you see Bill Borellis any time soon (he finally "remembered me!" at the football game, but somehow I missed him Saturday evening), please give him a huge hug from me and tell him I "remember him"! too, but he'll have to figure out how!
I'll send pictures of the new baby and Costa Rica when I'm back in October. You and Danny have a great trip too!!!
Gloria--Great job on the reunuion..The lindley's hospitality was "top shelf"..Please express nicole & my thanks to everyone involved...Good luck in korea..My traveling has ended for a couple of months..Hee Hee Hee...Mike Hunt
What a great weekend. Draper was the last to leave about 2pm yesaterday from the Lodge..We all had a blast. Glad to see RAFB alumni made front page in New Braunfels. We collected about 20 papers at the Lodge Sunday & passed them around. "Atta girls" to you, Marty, Kathy, Linda & whoever worked on the party Saturday. Everone at my end had a wonderful, relaxing day at the Lodge with boat rides & pool..Surprisingly no one skied . Jackie
Gloria, I just wanted to say "thanks a million" for all the countless hours you put in for the reunion. I hope you and your husband have a terrific time in Korea.
By the way--your son was so nice and gracious, and a darn good host, on Friday at the school cafeteria before you got there. I thought that every mom likes to hear those kinds of comments about their kids.
I'm home. I had the most fantastic, wonderful time that I can remember.
Jimmy Fidler and I were one the same flight back to Houston. We met at the airport this morning for about an hour and then got on the plane. We parted somewhere in Houston both looking for our flights which, naturally, were both in different terminals. Janet Francis
Gloria, I just wanted to THANK YOU so much for such an enjoyable reunion!!! All your hard work was greatly appreciated....... Rest up and just know how loved you are by all!!! Thanks again, Denise Fitzpatrick :)
Jeff, Marty, Gloria... Thank you for EVERYTHING. I wanted to stay and help clean up but... I just couldn't stay that late. I'm not sure how late everyone stayed, but... you are all noble souls for taking this on. If you need an additional donation (should all the costs not be covered) please let me know. I'm in Maine (work) now but still thinking about what a wonderful reunion it was. Janet Watkins Jendron
Thank you for the reunion. It was just wonderful. I enjoyed visiting with all of my classmates that I had not seen for so long. As you know, because you were with me through most of it, I arrived at Randolph in 1957 (5th grade) and stayed until 1964 . I met alot of wonderful people in those 7 years! And many of them were at the reunion. I didn't get to spend time with you though. I need to start going to more luncheons with you and work less! Be careful on your trip to Korea. Love ya, Carole
Hey, Gloria, I'm finally getting around to sending my thanks for all the work that you did and tell you what a wonderful time I had! I thought it was hilarious the way everyone was walking around and looking at name tags, then faces! I saw so many old friends--I think it's a shame the way we all go our separate ways and it takes a 40 year old reunion to reconnect, but extremely glad it happened! I also found it amusing that everyone was nervous about seeing old friends, myself included! Most of my old friends were actually from the class of 68 that I became close friends with after I moved to Austin and it was so much fun talking about the great times we had together--stories that I have told for years! Well, anyway, thanks again!
We had a wonderful time! Thank you for all that you did to get it together. Everyone was so friendly, the food delicious, and the catching up was great!!! When is the next one (ha ha)? Have fun on your trip.
Just a note to say "THANKS" for all you and your wife did to make the very large reunion a raving success. I had a wonderful time and everyone I have talked to since have said what a great time they had had also. It may not have happened (like it did) if you all hadn't given you beautiful home and property so that we all could gather.
Thanks again for all your time and effort and God Bless you both.
Gloria -- I haven't had a minute of my own since returning to Dallas, so I haven't thanked you properly. But it was a great gathering and you're the reason we've managed to keep it up. You rock, girl.
You travel safely to Korea. Have a great time while you're there. Be careful and tell us all about it when you get home.
I attended Randolph High School from the fall of 1963 and graduated in 1965. I wrote alumni newsletters from 1974 until 2000 and I organized 8 successful reunions. The last one being September 14, 2013. I was married in 1978 to Danny Gallagher and we have one son, Kelly Gallagher who was born in 1982 and Danny's son from his previous marriage is David Gallagher who was born in 1973. I have 3 children from my first marriage with Chuck Pechuls (RHS Class of '64)- daughter, Allison Pechuls born in 1969 and identical twin boys, Kyle Pechuls and Mark Pechuls who were born in 1970. Together my husband and I have 11 grandchildren! We also have 2 great-grandchildren! We moved to New Braunfels, TX from South Florida in 2003 to be near and care for my parents (Bill and Fran Campbell) who lived at the Air Force Village in San Antonio. (My mom passed away February 6, 2008 and my dad passed away October 29, 2009). My husband works for BMW of Austin as Business Manager and I am a retired legal secretary/paralegal!
P.S. My younger brother, Fred Campbell Class of '69 passed away in 2002.
